The Cost

Someone told me that I was wasting my life away. The reason being, I don’t get to go where some people get to go. Really and truly I would not want to do what they do. That’s not me.  It’s fine if that’s what they want to do, but never say I’m wasting my life. I diligently seek God, and I have such a burning desire in me to please Him and no one else.

It cost something to follow Jesus. Your life is not your own. You were bought with a price. We pay to go to amusement parks, ballgames, movies, and races. Yet in our minds we think it will cost us nothing to follow Him. Wrong! It will cost you the things the world and yourself counts most important.

It will cost you your time, money, and relationships.

Like the story with Mary and Martha, Martha was always busy with other things. She wanted Mary to help her. Mary had no desire to help her do anything. All Mary wanted was to sit at the Master’s feet and be taught by Him. Nothing else mattered. Nothing!

You have to value being taught by the Master. I have made a choice to sit, listen, learn, and obey. I wouldn’t trade it for anything the world has to offer.

Luke 10:38-42 (NIV) “Jesus and his disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said.  But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  Hebrews 11:6 (Msg)

How would I ever waste my life away in something Jesus done every day He walked on the earth?
