Are You the Sinner in the Pew?

~James 4:7 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doth it not, to him it is sin."

I have been thinking a lot lately about what it truly means to be a Christian. I realize that as Christians, we seem to have the do's and dont's down to a science. Do we really? I have been looking inward to find the answer to that question. I know the things I dare not do. I honestly have no desire to do those things anyway. We have the "heavy" sins we scoff at.

What about the other things God commands of us? You know the ones. He tells us to love our neighbors. We are to clearly help others in need. We should never desire to tear down a fellow servant of God. I wonder how our scales tip in that area? I have written down my thoughts on these things. I would like to share them with you now. God bless you as we endeavor to grow in Christ.

Are you the sinner in the pew? You can quote the whole Word. The Ten Commandments, beatitudes, every Bible lesson heard.

Are you the sinner in the pew? If there's a service, you will go. But inside you are the hidden sins. They just fester there and grow. Do you truly love your brother? Do you hate without a cause? Are you quick to spread a rumor? When you hear one, do you pause? Do you reach out to help another? Do you think only of yourself? Do you help feed and clothe the needy? Do you just keep it on your shelf?

Are you the sinner in the pew? You ignore another's cry. You walk right by the hurting. You don't even bat an eye.

Are you the sinner in the pew? I thought I would only ask. I dare not to cast a stone. My house, too, is made of glass. I wonder how our Father hurts. I am sure it breaks His heart. Many needs go on unnoticed. What if we all would do out part? Sins and weights, they do beset us. It is time to let them go. There is a work we must be doing. We're here to make His Kingdom grow.
