Tony & Sharon serve as Elders over the teen ministry and have 2 sons, Colt and Levi. They started attending Gateway in 1994 while Sharon was pregnant with their first son, Colt, who now serves in the Kingdom Kids ministry.
Why teen ministry?
I’ve never been able to just accept anyone else’s experiences as my own. My conversion came when I realized that this Jesus I had always heard about was speaking to me, calling my name and proving himself to me, personally. The longing that I could not fill with people or possessions was finally filled. Jesus Christ was my personal savior. The baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues awakened a hunger inside me for more of God, more than just being “saved”. I needed more than just salvation messages to grow in God.
Teens have always held a special place in my heart. I understand that while the decisions and the questions they deal with have changed over the years, they are just like all the rest of us; they need to find the answer that I found years ago: His name is Jesus.
